This is a film about Dr. Richards” African American film and memorabilia collection “A Cinema Apart” (www.acinemaapart.com) that portrays the role of African Americans as they triumphed in gaining control of images of themselves on the screen and the impact their prolific contributions have made in the early Hollywood film industry.

The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture has acquired 1,000 pieces of her collection! The museum is scheduled to open September 24, 2016 in Washington DC.. President Obama will perform the ribbon cutting ceremony.
